6. Juniors into Seniors FAQ

Once your child reaches 13, they will be eligible to play competitive senior hockey. Our juniors are an important part both of our senior section and of the long term future of our Club (just look at the high number of first and second team players at the Club who started out as juniors at TWHC).

Tunbridge Wells HC believes strongly in matching every junior to the most suitable senior team at the right time. It is important that every junior has access to the right level of hockey and to balance positive self esteem and challenge.

We also recognise and understand that our youngsters will develop and grow (not just in their hockey) at different rates. This is totally normal. Our focus is to ensure we offer opportunities and pathways for our younger players to progress at ANY time once they are ready.

TWHC’s own Academy is one pathway to help with this transition - though it is not essential for a junior player to be part of the Academy in order to make the move up to senior hockey (TWHC’s Academy is invitation only for players in Y7 to Y11).

The attached FAQs are intended to provide a greater understanding of as many aspects as possible of the operation of the senior section and your child’s progress into it.

If you have any additional questions you'd like us to cover - just let your age group/team or section lead know and we'll keep it updated.
