South East Premier
The Men's 1st XI is our flagship team. A lot of work goes on both on and off the pitch to continue to develop the team under the guidance of manager James Wattenbach working with our head coach (playing) Sam George.
The team earned promotion into the England Hockey League for the first time in the Club's history after a highly successful 2023-24 season in South East Premier, winning the league by 14 points. The side also won the England Hockey National Champions (Tier 2) following a dramatic victory at Lee Valley over Leek HC in April 2023.
Our progress and success in recent years has flowed from a mixture of younger players coming through the Club's own ranks complemented with players who have joined from elsewhere (or returned from University) and who want to be part of the ongoing development and progress of the side - and the Club as a whole. We will continue to promote the team's development in this way by ensuring we have the right support for talented young players coming up through the junior ranks, whether direct from the Junior Academy or via other senior sides in the section, whilst at the same time striving to remain a welcoming but exciting and ambitious proposition for new players joining us for the first time.
