After a month off, our Summer Flyerz programme resumed last Sunday

The sunshine was definitely out as 30+ players and coaches gathered at Hawkenbury on Sunday for the first session of our Flyerz Summer programme.

What a fun morning and we look forward to many more in the months ahead.

Our Flyerz hockey sessions run every first, third (and if there is one) fifth Sunday of the month through to the end of July - 10.30 - midday at Hawkenbury*. All players, family - and any coaches or helpers who want to come along from TWHC - welcome.

We also know that we'll be supporting the Summer Fair at Oakley School in July and we are hard at work planning a national Flyerz Festival that we are hosting for all clubs in area and beyond on Sunday 15th September ... so there is lots to look forward to.

Flyerz hockey is inclusive hockey for everyone - focussed on those with physical or learning difficulties or disabilities, it provides a friendly, safe and fun environment for players of all ages and abilities to get into hockey. I'm sure I am not meant to say this .. but it is definitely the most fun section of the entire Club ... and before anyone replies by saying that this means we can't win anything, we have GB and England Special Olympics Gold and Euro Silver medal winners in our ranks ...

TW Flyerz is truly something special - we've been running it for almost 7 years now and despite the amazing achievements of some of our players on the hockey pitch (which are fantastic) and the several awards we have won, it's actually the wider development of our players generally as individuals that is the most rewarding and is our biggest success. Flyerz hockey is not just about playing our sport - it's about transforming lives.

We've made a great start on this in the last 7 years, but it's only a start and there's lots more we can and want to do.

Anyone wanting to come along as a player, to help out, or just to see what we do - drop a line to flyerz@twhc.co.uk

*The pitch at Hawkenbury is about to be relaid, so we may be elsewhere for some of our sessions in the coming months - please check using email above if you are planning to come along for the first time.
