Huge congratulations to Freja Holder who has been selected to represent the U15 Saxon Tigers at the upcoming England Hockey Futures Cup in St Albans later this month.
This is a fantastic achievement and follows outstanding performances at our area EH Performance Centre. We wish her and her teammates the best of luck as they take on sides from other areas of England at the end of the month. We will keep you updated with how Freja and the Saxon Tigers get on ...
We would like also to congratulate Hattie Mills, Milly Reading, Poppy Carnochan and Holly Hughes who recently represented the South Saxons U13s in a Lions Hockey UK tournament in Nottingham.
In addition to the above, we also have several boys and girls who have been and are trialling to get into the EH Performance Centre set up for next season at U15 and U17 level. Players in the Performance Centres are then eligible for selection at the end of the season for the Futures Cup (or its successor under the new EH Talent Development structure), just as Freja has been this year. The next step after this is to be selected for the National Age Group Programme (NAGS).
We congratulate all of our players who have been selected for these representative teams and programmes as well as those who have gone or are going through selection.
Many of the senior Club have witnessed first hand in the past few months the broad talent that is coming through our junior ranks (of which the above are just a small part). This is a testament to the quality and commitment of our juniors generally, of the coaches who work with them and of course to the parents who support them and the Club - we thank you all and we are very proud of you as you all should be of yourselves.
